Editor´s Note

Editors-Note-photo-small The last ten years have flown by more quickly than any others I have known. When we started planning the first issue of HHG Magazine, we hoped for the best but, honestly, we weren’t sure how far it could go. We were conscious of the fact that magazines often have a short life span.

There were days when putting out an issue was so challenging we really felt like giving up. Then, “like spite” (as we say in Jamaica), a reader would call the office, send a letter (more popular then), or an email encouraging us and we would feel a little guilty at the thought of stopping. The result - this issue marks our 10th year of publishing this Magazine, which so many of our readers now call their own. Thank God!

Throughout the years it has become easier, and for the past five years we have been able to print three issues per year, always meeting the newsstand schedules of our international distributor.

This success could not have been possible without the tremendous support we have received. We are eternally grateful to our several homeowners who have shared their homes and gardens with our readers, bringing inspiration to so many. I often meet persons who speak about the ideas they got from different issues of the magazine.

Without advertising support, it is not possible to keep a magazine, such as HHG, alive. We are so thankful for the unfailing support we have received from our advertisers (most of them constant).

To our writers, who spend the time to write interesting and informative articles, our photographers and graphic artists and all who contribute in various ways, we say thank you for seeing the vision!

And to you, our devoted reader, you know all of this would not make a muckle if you weren’t there. We promise to continue to bring you the best of Jamaica and the Caribbean in our own way. To serve up articles and features that are not just interesting but informative enough to make a real difference in your life (you will have a lot more issues to collect!).

We will be celebrating our 10th anniversary in various ways. On July 29 we started with a ‘Summer Soiree’ at the Altamont Court Hotel, Kingston, for writers and advertisers. It was an evening of fun and games.

We invite you to celebrate with us and spread the word about HHG Magazine to others. We look forward to being there for you for many more years to come.

JAMAICA has been blessed with a worldwide appeal due mainly to her beaches; the performance of her athletes; her musicians in general and Bob Marley in particular. Over 2 million tourists visit her shores each year.

HHG Magazine presents another look at Jamaica from a broader perspective. Beyond sea, sand, sun and reggae it gives an interesting and colourful insight into the homes, gardens, architecture, special sites and an exciting people!
